The Mississippi House has passed a resolution that would create am annual, state-wide Dale Earnhardt Day on April 29. According to said resolution, Earnhardt ""created a legacy in Mississippi (by) amassing so many wins." According to the AP, "A similar resolution passed the Georgia House of Representatives in 2005. Another one was filed in the Ohio House of Representatives this week." If they're going to do it, why not just make it a National Dale Earnhardt Day?

Thank God the nation is in such great shape so all of our legislators can have the spare time to deal with the important issues of life.

I'm all for honoring Earnhardt but I think his memory would be better served if the honors were done within the confines of the NASCAR world. Name a race or a track after him. Something all fans could see, touch, feel etc. A day in Mississippi is OK but it does nothing for me.

Why don't we combine Dale day with Halloween. Instead of ghouls and gobblins the little kiddies can darn their Dale racesuits and sunglasses and ride around on black bicylces and wagons collecting chocolate number 3's!

I have been a Sr fan since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, when CBS was carrying the NASCAR races, watching CY, DW, Sr, and a bunch of others go at it. The only state I could see there being an annual Sr day is in South Carolina.
