I'll be happy to take up for Gordon. I have seen him say that he messed up and hit someone by accident. I have seen almost every driver cry about getting hit so I don't understand all these super hero drivers that ya'll like. Nobody likes getting taken out of a race, but it is going to happen. Maybe if they didn't let so many drivers on the track it wouldn't be as bad. All of ya'll have cry babies for drivers! I have not EVER seen a single driver not dish it out and then cry when it happen to them.

RE: ibaker...often, the truth does in fact carry some thorns. Judging by the responses to this thread, several others of us should "grow up." Having been in the racing world since about '61, I guess some striving toward adult-hood would be good for me. Gordon is not that popular, Gordon is not that good a driver (relys on team and crew to keep him on line) and Gordon is highly overrated in the media, but not by his peers. Plain fact, not fiction...An example of his popularity is the response by any assembled crowd when he suffers a mishap...not always, but usually a unanimous stand-up ovation. But, forgive me, I'm off to kindergarten... But, seriously, I really appreciate your standing up for him...that is a good sign of a staunch race fan!

It's great to be a fan but do we really need this on these forums ??? We all love some drivers/teams and hate others but there isn't any need to bad mouth one another here. Bring on the opinions but leave the anger for the drivers to show off with in front of the media.

i cant believe Jeff didnt beat the living heck out of Matt, Matt spun Jeff and Jeff went from 3rd to 21st, thats alot worst then getting shoved. Matt was so dumb to even think about approaching Jeff when Jeff hadnt even toke off his racing gloves. Its ridiculous how Jeff goes 14 years without shoving a racer but he does once for a good reason and fans go "hes a jerk." Matts did it purposely becuase lost the race and took it out on Jeff. Matt got very lucky. I say give Matt the 21st finish and Jeff the 3rd, what do you Kenseth fans think about that.

NASCAR isn't always sensible about the justice they deal out but giving one driver anothers ending position will never happen.

obviously not, but that would have been the right thing to do instead of penalizing the VICTIM.

Not really, it tends to be both, the one who starts the problem and the one who retaliates, like a baseball brawl, both teams get penalties.

Baseball brawls are just plain stupid and I feel are more for show. What I'm talking about is like football, when someone throws a cheap shot at someone, away from the play. The guy who got hit retaliates back and gets flagged. Happens all the time.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned how the replay, which I've watched a hundered times, doesn't definitively show Kenseth actually made contact with Gordon. As much as I was looking for the contact, I just couldn't see it. It looked to me that Kenseth just took the air off his spoiler when he drove up on him. The result was Gordon jumping loose and spinning, something his supposed great driving ability couldn't prevent. Kenseth has seemed to be a stand-up guy at every turn, to me. I find it hard to believe that he walked over to Gordon to start something. His reputation says his intentions were nothing but good. Back to my original point, pretty much all the contact that got people loose and moved them out of the way was blatent. I mean, half of one guys hood underneath the guy in front's rear bumper. Whatever "contact" between Gordon and Kenseth was nowhere near that. Let it go Gordon fans, Ol' Jeffy just couldn't keep his car going staight, so he took out his anger with himself on someone else, plain and simple.

I am a Kennseth fan and I don't think JG should have been fined. In my opinion that little wussy shove doesn't get him into the "bad boys" club....That is what's so ironic...JG is so much a nice guy that he is gonna have to do better at being bad.
