| Rain tires? I was wondering why NASCAR doesn't allowed racing during rainy weather, imagine your in atlanta and you're racing with few laps to go, suddenly it rains!!!! so NASCAR will red flag the race? what if it will rain all night? I suggust allowing racing during rain and Goodyear can help by building new rain tires. What do you guys think?

I'm sure someone will add to or correct me on this but a number of years ago they ran a race in Japan and I think they used a rain slick there. Not real sure of the outcome. |

Why they don't do that today I'm not sure. I think that with the speeds and the banking the cars run compared to road racing, hydroplaining would be an issue. Visibility too.

| Re: Rain tires? Few years ago when we hosted the F1 for the first time in Bahrain I remember it rained but didn't affect the race at all, it got more exciting, the F1 is not better than NASCAR...I think NASCAR should make a move by allowing racing in rainy weather, if it rains sometime and the race canceled critisizing will never ends. |

| Re: Rain tires? Up here in the great northwest, if we dont run in the rain we wouldnt race. It does not make for good racing. It's one of those follow the leader type of things. There is a bump and crash division which is ok for the rain. A fans view of things is its good. But does it make for good training of younger drivers? NO, They grow up in the frame of mind of racing is; "Two bumps and a dump." Little Jimmie Spencers. If you all remember a few years ago, I believe it was a Bristol. "Gentlemen, and Jimmie Spencer start your engines." Now, do you really think we need rain tires? |

1 lap past 1/2 way is considered a complete race if they have to call it off.....thats why they may seem to race a little harder when rain starts incase of the red flag though i agree ovals and rain would never mix, road courses should be run no matter what like F1 races..........you wanna race like the big boys you better act like the big boys.....(and before my comments get me in trouble i only say big boys because F1 spends 10 times more per team

| Re: Rain tires? I remember terry labonte and dale earnhardt testing in the rain at bristol years ago, they said the car actually ran better then they expected. us fans will sit in the rain for hours waiting for a race to happen, I'll think we'd sit in the rain to see the race it self. has far as the hyroplaning goes it would add another demension to driving , not always does the fastest car win, usually it's the smartest team.................slow down and go fast!

When it comes to bristol, the speeds are significantly slower and alot of the moisture would run down the banking. I think it could possibly be pulled off, but doubt it will. It would require alot of work in all aspects. |
