Great way of looking at it Bob. It's like a large scale saturday night dirt race. Qualify, run 2 heats and then the A anb B main. Only difference being that instead of a B main, you just go home.

I'm new to your forum and look forward to many chats with ya'll. I already know the rules to the Daytona 500. It's a great thing for you to post them though. Rules are always being changed. This year is going to be something else.

I grew up with racing, so have been a fan for years. Three of my Uncles and my dad were racers. It's in the blood. I was and always will be a Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan, but now I go mostly for Tony Stewart, who by the way won last night. I go for others, but Tony is my main racer now. He had some trouble in practice for the Daytona. He'll be alright. Last night helped some with the Toyota issue for me. Don't see much difference. Just money in that one. We're on our way now. It's racing time.

Re: Daytona 500 qualifying explained

I'm watching the speed channel and they just had a cartoon to explain the qualifying. Every time I see or read an explanation of the qualifying the stupider and stupider it sounds. Since this race is unique in its qualifying I think it would be the perfect race to make it unique and change by making it the race that 43 spots have to qualify on time. It's just so bogus to have the 35 locked in. That field filler crap they harp on is bogus too. After all they keep saying there are 61 cars trying to get into the Daytona.

You saw that too? Well, now I'm on the Fox channel watching the qualifying. They just started. This is going to be good. Chat later.
