| How is it that when nascar finds a violation the only person penalized is the crew cheif. Where is the message in that. Do they believe that all of us fans are dumb enough to think the only person who knew he was illegal was the crew cheif. I guess it would be different if it were and accident, someone made a mistake. This was no mistake it was a blattent attemp to cheat. With that being said, Jimmie Johnson shows up to a race and not just any race. His car is illegal and he gets caught. I think that Nascar should penalize the entire team. They were all involved. You know as well as I do Chad Knauss did not design and do the work his self. I have personally been there it is indeed a team sport. There is nothing that happens to that car that more than one person is unaware of. I guess i am a bit ☻☻☻☻ed as a fan that he should be allowed to race and even given the opertunity to win. When the driver shows up at the track there is a team that has put it all together. If the Driver wins the entire team celebrates. If it is indeed the team sport it claims to be the entire team should be held responsible for its indescretions. If you enforce the rules equally and it affects an entire organization all the way down to its sponsor, than maybe, just maybe these teams will think twice before trying to get away with cheating. | I'd say whatever kind of work you do, it's reasonable that people in your industry are gonna push the envelope. But blatent cheating's not pushing the envelope, it's just cheating. The back window thing is just plain old cheating & they got caught. Was reading a interview with Kyle Petty that essentially admitted that he's cheated but he says that it's entirely possible for a driver to not know about what's been done to a car. I guess I can see that it would depend on the circumstances and the individual driver. Some of the drivers are gonna have a don't ask, don't tell policy but they expect their car to do everything possible as long as it donesnt get caught. Would you expect that's where most drivers fit? |

| Hey, great to see so many new faces here on the forums! A big ol' welcome to Mike and LSC! This whole situation is absurd. Johnson and his crew get caught cheating, so his crew chief gets suspended for the race but he's allowed to run? Come on! That's like if an NFL player tested positive for steroids before the Super Bowl, so they suspended the coach and let the player play. This is no different in spirit than using performance enhancing drugs. He should have at least been held out of the race! |

| Re: Jimmie Johnson Cheating Here is my take on the 48 team cheating. If the car passes postrace inspections every time, then perhaps it is the driver and not the car. What I am saying is that it is possible that Johnson may be using some sort of illegal substance, which NASCAR occasionally tests drivers for. Recall that Jeremy Mayfield recently flunked a drug test and received a suspension. With that in mind, if Johnson is indeed using an illegal substance, he will be eventually caught. |
