| Re: Nascar blames ESPN/ABC for boring race... I feel like it's the "Jimmy Johnson Show" with ESPN. I know they guy is the points leader, but I don't need to see every pit stop replayed while green flag racing is going on. Another thing that bugs me is that they NEVER reset the field when going green from a caution. There are things they could do to improve the enjoyment factor of NA$CAR. Listen to a race on the radio and then watch on TV, you'll see the difference. |

Maybe Brian will declare war on ABC/ESPN and claim that they're not a credible sport network. Maybe he can get CNN to cover all the Cup races? They're non-biased and extremely open minded, you know. I wonder if the ABC/ESPN crew will offer some sort of an apology in some form this week? Actually, I thought the ABC/ESPN crew this week called the shots in a more credible manner than they have all season. I'm still all for both ABC/ESPN and FOX to dump NA__AR and let TNT cover it. Even tough I dislike Marty Snyder, TNT had the best coverage they've had all season.

| Re: Nascar blames ESPN/ABC for boring race... I may have not watched the whole race, but I did watch a majority of it. I did catch the part where ESPN played the Stewart audio. I don't see how Nascar can say there was some "intense racing" going on during that time. It seemed all follow the leader to me. |

| Re: Nascar blames ESPN/ABC for boring race... Here is an article by Monte Dutton, who is a writer that we might pay attention to. He writes for the Gaston (NC) Gazette and NASCAR This Week is his own blog. He has covered NASCAR exclusively for over twenty years. He's not another S&B retread who follows motor sports because it's the "In" thing to do. He covers the NA__AR slam at the media pretty well and give quotes from both Tony Stewart and Mark Martin apparently AFTER they have had conversations with NA__AR. Both of their stories have changed quite a bit from Sunday. Within the story, Monte writes: This is a slippery slope, this media-mind-control theory. It suggests that the fans don't have enough sense to make up their own minds. (My note: Yep. That's about the way it seems that NA__AR feels about us, doesn't it?)If Stewart read my mail, he'd know that the media is "fans light." He'd find a lot of complaints far harsher than what he read (or, more likely, heard about, since Stewart claims he never reads a word of it). He'd find that much of what was written actually came about in response to demands from fans to address the subject. My favorite response, by the way, is always "well, from where I was sitting, it was a great race." Really? One would hope so. Zipping around and around at 200 mph would seem to be exciting. But not everyone gets to do that. NASCAR is a spectator sport, which means that the spectators count (My note: Something NA__AR seems to forget when it's convenient) It's a good read. It's at: It was apparently a media buggy leading the field | NASCAR This Week |

| Re: Nascar blames ESPN/ABC for boring race... After listening to Pemberton and Helton in interviews since Talledega it's clear that NOTHING will be done for the plate tracks. They don't see a problem. The only thing they "might" even look at is a new design of the roof flaps to keep the car on the ground. To them the ONLY problem at the plate tracks is the cars turning around and getting airborne. Not the naptastic racing for most of the race. If I hear from a NASCAR offical about "how tight the box" is one more time I will punch one of them. They make the rules. They could do anything including making a new engine package at the 2 plate tracks. Teams already build special engines for the plate tracks. You would think with all the smart people in the sport they could come up with something. People act like GOD himself came down and said we can't change the aero of the car and/or remove the plates for these 4 races. They're all so shortsighted. I wouldn't care if they never broke 175mph on both tracks if the racing was worth watching. I also want to punch everyone in the face that says it's too expensive. Really? As opposed to mandating the COT that nobody wanted? As opposed to the next driver to die at a race? No one for NASCAR has really even mentioned how close Newman came to checking out. When they have to cut the roof off your car and your head is smashed against the roll cage and you are one of the shortest drivers in the garage than that's a problem. |
