| Re: Old Points system Why does this keep coming up. "Could'a, Would'a, Should'a" talk is mute! It is what it is! We are operating under the chase format! The old point system is just that "the old system"! Why don't you go back to the old old [2 generations back] system or even farther? You may eventually find one that puts someone in front of JJ. JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY!! CAN YOU SAY "FOUR -PEAT"!!! Come on guys, I've heard more realistic arguments from diehard College BB fans when their school doesn't win the final 4. As racing fan professionals, one would expect more. Lets try this approach. Name the top 3 things that you would do for next year to keep JJ from winning again. 1] 2] 3] |

| Re: Old Points system My question was whats the point of this post? I mean..we are reminded day in and day out of how the old point system would be better. But...we run the chase format, so what ever the standings would have looked like back then mean nothin! |

| Re: Old Points system I agree Bass.... As much as I hate the chase format, it's what they are using so it is what it is... Anyone remember in 2003 when Matt the Brat won it with 2 races left in the season and he only had 1 win!! The fans raised hell which is why they changed the format. NASCAR can never make people happy. Here are the facts concerning the chase and old points system. With only 3 races left in the season here are the point leads that the leader had 2008- Chase + 183 points Old way +98 points 2007- Chase +9 points Old way +439 points 2006- Chase +26 points Old way- +78 points 2005- Chase +43 points Old way +255 points 2004- Chase +59 points Old way +42 points So what's the difference??? I will say this thou...If the chase had never been created and we kept the old system here is who our champions would have been: 2004- Gordon (Busch chase winner) 2005- Stewart (Stewart chase winner) 2006- Johnson (johnson chase winner) 2007- Gordon (johnson chase winner) 2008- Edwards (johnson chase winner) |

| Re: Old Points system Quote:
1) give Chad to Jr for the year 2) Make the #48 run on 7 cylinders every race 3) Dont allow JJ to have his UniBrow trimmed ... it will grow so much and get in his eye making it difficult to drive |
