NA__AR Recycling

Here's an article, not critical of NA__AR administration which will get some of your blood pressure going. Within it Vito says:
It used to be that every year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the Nationwide Series, there was a slew of fresh-faced rookies just getting their start on America’s premier motorsports level. I remember when I first started following auto racing closely in the late 1980s. I vividly recall the hoopla surrounding second-generation sensation Davey Allison and the sights of Dick Trickle, a 48-year old rookie from Wisconsin, smoking cigarettes under caution in his Miller High Life Buick, and later, the TropArctic Pontiac. Who can forget the 1993 class that produced two future champions in Jeff Gordon and Bobby Labonte, as well as the preeminent motorsports commentator of our time, Kenny Wallace?

That said, there are a few familiar drivers who continue to stick around the Sprint Cup Series despite having had limited success throughout the years, denying the future Allisons, Gordons and Labontes their shot at stardom.

Kenny "The Giggler" Wallace, preeminent? Not in this lifetime!

For the whole story, go to: NASCAR's Version of "Going Green" - AthlonSports.com It's a hoot.

I cringe when I see him and Spencer on the pre race show. Makes me glad when I miss it ... as I often plan to.

Kenna Wallace talking to the fans like he does has turned me off from Speed's pre-race show. That's too bad, because I really like Wendy Venturini. Seems like a waste of valuable talent having her on that show.

The very lovely Wendy is a stone-solid fox! I always admire the top button of her blouse usually being unfastened.

One of my personal funniest moments of this season was a pre race interview she did with Joey Logano just before the race as he was about to put on his helmet. Wendy bent down to ask him a question and Joey immediately lost eye contact with her and his downward gaze was something to behold. He stammered a bit but, like the professional he is becoming, he managed to get out a credible answer.

Ok, too funny, I saw this and thought it was totally my imagination that young Joey was stumblin' just at tad. That is, until my 15 year old son said "Um, I'm thinkin' the last thing on Joey's mind is racing right now. Kinda makes you wanna be a race car driver, doesn't it?" Wendy gives me hope on many levels. She proves you can be pretty without being a classic pinup girl, that you can be voluptuous as opposed to anorexic, that you can have a sense of humor without becoming "the preeminant" commentator, and that you can have a real brain and taken seriously by fans, peers, and drivers. She and Krista (sp?) Voda do a nice job, IMHO. This is a small miracle for me, since I must admit to usually thinking female commentators have in the past sounded like morons.

You missed one quality Wendy exhibits that I find especially endearing. She treats the people she interviews as though THEY are the focus of the interview and not her. Her winning personality shines through by her just being herself and not becoming another DW, Kenny Wallace or Jimmy Spencer. She knows the people she interviews are the stars of the show and not her. (I just reread your post and you do allude to this quality. However, I find it so professional that I've left my comments, which actually reinforce what you state)

I have NEVER heard her ask a dumb question. Coming from a racing family she is knowledgeable about the sport and isn't awed by the people who are the objects of her interviews.

Wendy makes me wish that female sports interviewing should become an Olympic event (it'd be a good replacement for synchronized swimming!).

Krista... She is definitely a cut above average but she's a little too "perky" for my tastes.
