Talladega TV Ratings Down

Big Surprise!

Overnight Talladega TV ratings down: ABC's broadcast of Sunday's Amp Energy 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway earned a 3.8 overnight rating from Nielsen Media Research, Street and Smith's SportsBusiness Daily reports. The rating is 5 percent lower than the 4.0 ABC earned overnight for its broadcast of the fall Talladega race in 2008, when the event was run on the first weekend of October. The 3.8 is 11.8 percent higher than the 3.4 ABC earned overnight for its broadcast of the Texas Cup race on the first Sunday in November of 2008.(SceneDaily)(11-2-2009)

I'm sure that it's the economy and not the racing. This just shows that folks are too poor to watch the races on TV.

I fear the last stat given just shows that far too many enjoy wrecking and not racing?

In all fairness, ABC (NA__AR Coverage) isn't doing as badly as CBS' NFL games. They were down 7.8%. NBC was down 2% FOX was up 5.1% and ESPN was up 5.8. I'm sure the football fans can justify these numbers; I'm totally at a loss and would enjoy explanations.

??? OK, but on which network? Besides, I thought (or remembered anyway) the big GB grudge was against my former favourites, Da Bears? (Not that the Packers have to have a grudge against any team to play good football)

I think Fox broadcast the game, not sure about ESPN.
It's the biggest story in Football this year... Favre's defection to GB's arch rival Vikings.

I'm a fan of racing, what NASCAR used to be about. I'm not a fan of follow the leader which is what NA$CAR was about yesterday. Follow the leader is not racing. That's why i got sick to my stomach, and could not bear to watch it yesterday.

no what happened yesterday was racing it was yesterdays version of racing no two days of racing can ever be the same and yesterday just happened to be a different less exciting version of racing

you mentioned what nascur ''used to be about''.....i do not agree...look at the races during the petty era,2 or 3 cars on the lead lap,margin of victory ,17 sec.....it's all in the record books....to those fans ,in those days,it was exciting....i believe we as fans are just getting spoiled,for want of action.

Think so? go talk to racers at the local tracks, and the World Of Outlaw racers and see if they agree with ya.
