This has been me since the start of the NFL season. I use to never miss a race. now I never miss a football game. Can't stand Nascar anymore. I watch the early NFL game when my Texans are playing. After that I turn to watch the last 30 or so laps of the race. Just can't take it anymore. Nascar has ran it into the ground.

Bill Sr. tried that in 1969 and it was a flop. The ONLY remarkable thing about that race was that it was Richard Brickhouse's only win. They sold 60K tickets but those were all sold before the PDA drivers pulled out. The newspapers report that many fans left very unhappy (kinda like yesterday?)

You probably don't remember it but the S&B sports tried that very thing back in the 80's. It was so bad that it would have been almost laughable if it hadn't have been so tragic

I'll go with Ryan Newman's sentiments. He's a direct quote from his post wreck, post medical center, TV interview:
“It was a boring race for the fans,” Newman said. “That (the wreck) is not something anybody wants to see, at least I hope not. If they do, go home because you don’t belong here.

“It’s just a product of this racing and what NASCAR has put us into with this box and these restrictor plates with these types of cars – with the yellow line, no bump-drafting, no passing. Drivers used to be able to respect each other and race around each other. Richard Petty, David Pearson and Bobby Allison and all those guys have always done that. I guess they don’t think much of us any more.”

Something to the affect of, The drivers and fans respect NA__AR. He just wishes NA__AR had the same respect for them. So do I.

Re: Most boring race in history

This race was not the most boring race in history the most boring race in history was probably the 2002 or 03 cart - champcar race from austrailia that mario dominguez won where only 6 laps were ran at green flag conditions.

But yesterdays race was pretty boring it might rank in the top 5 or top 10 for most boring races probably in the top 3 or 4 if you consider just nascar races.

Although the 08 brickyard 400 was very bad i would say it would probably be 2nd for most boring races ever. 1 of my friends said it was like watching 20 10 lap heat races.

Also i am another person who used to watch a nascar race all the way thru now i probably watch more of a football game than i do the race.

I think they need to just take the plates off and let the cars go 230 or 240 or 250 mph.

I didn't like it but I watched it...its called fan loyality...maybe its just me or a Philly thing though we have had bad sports teams for years but still watch them no matter what no matter how much it sucks. Thats why though watching 43 cars run in a line sucks and goes towards the non nascar fan sterotype of the sport i watch no matter what

Four of us did that on Saturday. Trust me ... it was far more exciting than the race. I was doing some wheelies that brought the front end of my John Deere 170 almost 3 feet off the ground. Messed around so much I lost my brakes and had to pit to repair them. A rather extended pit stop.

Not me in the pic but that is my John Deere in the background. I won the days events !!!!! There was also a Husqvarna out on the track at that time also.

There's a difference between sticking with a team (or in this sport driver) that is not doin good, vs sticking with a sport that is bein destroyed before your eyes.

Devisive...maybe, but violant (violent)... I doubt it.

Sounds a lot like diplomacy or just being moderate. I've never seen diplomacy win a war or even prevent one. All diplomacy does is postpone the inevitable. As far as moderates go, history is full of stories about the great Liberals and the great Conservatives. Not so much about great Moderates; they're usually just one of history's footnotes.
