Yes Rousch cars had the new engine. Yates still has "old" engines to get rid of. Why would they give it to a team they are not even fully merged with yet?

From what I heard the point of putting Elliot in the Ford was to find out what they needed about the nose and how it handles, especially for the upcoming Daytona 500. Not to run the new engine.

On the same hand early next year the teams that show up to run the Daytona 500 that only make a few races I'm sure a good part of them will run a Ford and lease engines that Yates has left over and no use for in the Yates/Rousch/RPM cars anymore. Just like when Bill Davis went under all the teams started showing up with Toyotas because they were cheap....
