| If Addington Goes, Zipadelli is Best Choice as Busch’s Crew Chief ESPN.com reported Sunday the possibility that Joe Gibbs Racing is considering several things to boost Kyle Busch’s performance. Among the options: replacing crew chief Steve Addington. If that doesn’t tell you how fickle Sprint Cup racing is, nothing will. In 68 races and just under two seasons together, Addington has led Busch to 12 of his 16 career Cup victories, 26 top-5s and 33 top-10s. Granted, Busch failed to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup this season and finished a disappointing 10th in last year’s Chase, but to replace Addington at this point would be a huge mistake, in my mind. http://www.autoracingdaily.com/site/...hs-crew-chief/

| Re: If Addington Goes, Zipadelli is Best Choice as Busch’s Crew Chief I think they need to leave him with his crew chief, they work well together. One thing they should do is let Kyle go back to being Kyle and forget about the PC Kyle. |

| Re: If Addington Goes, Zipadelli is Best Choice as Busch’s Crew Chief I think this is stupid. Maybe JGR is fearing that Shrub will pack up his things and leave after his contract is up. Not sure where else he will go. He got booted from HMS and JGR is the next in line when it comes to being the most successful Nascar team. If they do however feel the need to replace Addington then I think Zippy would be a bad choice. If anything I think I'd promote Jason Ratcliff. I think that guys has talent! |

| Re: If Addington Goes, Zipadelli is Best Choice as Busch’s Crew Chief I think it's a mistake to take Addington away. I mean look at all the success they have had together. I don't think that one off year is enough of a reason to take him away. And I can promise you that Zippy won't work with Kyle.

| Update: UPDATE: Joe Gibbs Racing announces that Dave Rogers will be assuming the duties as crew chief for the Sprint Cup Series #18 Toyota starting with the November 8 race at Texas Motor Speedway. Steve Addington, who has served as crew chief for the #18 team the previous five seasons will be reassigned to a position within JGR following this weekend's race at Talladega Superspeedway. Rogers is currently in his fourth season as crew chief on the #20 NASCAR Nationwide Series entry for JGR. He led the team to JGR's first Nationwide Series Owner's Championship in 2008 amassing nine victories, six poles, 16 top-five finishes and 26 top-10 finishes despite utilizing four different drivers over the course of the season. The team has captured another five wins thus far this season under Rogers' leadership. He first joined JGR in 1998 and spent six seasons from 1999 to 2004 working under Greg Zipadelli with the #20 team, including the team's 2002 Championship season.(JGR PR)(10-27-2009) |

| Re: If Addington Goes, Zipadelli is Best Choice as Busch’s Crew Chief I think it's a good move on Gibbs part. It's obvious things are not jelling there like it should. Steve Addington really hasn't done too much since moving to cup and he struggled with JJ Yealy. When Kyle got there, they caught fire but are way to inconsistent. I think Gibbs had to do something and I'm sure Steve Addington won't have any problem finding another CC job if he wants one....Isn't Kurt Busch looking? | Re: If Addington Goes, Zipadelli is Best Choice as Busch’s Crew Chief Dunno if Addington is looking outside JGR especially if they might field a 4th team. Also, Zippy was content in his Dir of Race Ops job until he had to step back down into the ranks and "fix" the CC problem with Joey. Expect him to return to the (ivory) tower asap .. that'll open a(nother) hole for Steve. But it might be that Steve's best attribute is gelling with a new guy and making instant progress, but is unable to carry it to the championship (aka consistency) level. That said, glad to see they're promoting from within. Always a good sign in an organization as it promotes (sic) loyalty.
