| Mayfield: I was worth more...as a failed drug test Jeremy Mayfield: 'I Was Worth More ... As A Failed Drug Test' Posted Oct 23, 2009 12:45PM By Holly Cain (RSS feed) Filed Under: Sprint Cup In his first national one-on-one television interview, suspended NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield continued to deny drug use and accused NASCAR of using him as a "a good pawn who wasn't going to cost them any money at all.'' Mayfield, who was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR for testing positive in a pair of drug tests this May, made the assertions on ESPN's Outside the Lines show, which will air Sunday at 9 a.m., hours before the green flag drops for the Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville, Va. | Re: Mayfield: I was worth more...as a failed drug test No, did he say why he wouldn't submit a hair from anywhere off his body for the end all test? I'm not buying the "it's too short" statement. Last edited by LSC9901 : 10-27-2009 at 06:39 AM. |

| Re: Mayfield: I was worth more...as a failed drug test There is something that I don't understand about all of this. All Jeremy had to do was admit he had done it, go to rehab, pass a couple of test, and he would probably be back racing by now. He has already said that he knows his racing career is over and he just wants to clear his name now. I was accused of doing something back in 1986 that I didn't do. I was told that if I said I did it, it would basically go away. It took me alittle over 3 years in court to prove I hadn't done it. Would have been easier for me to say I did it and that be the end of it, would have been way cheaper ( I lost everything at the time to pay lawyer fees), but it wouldn't have been right. Maybe that's what he's trying to do?

| Re: Mayfield: I was worth more...as a failed drug test What I found interesting in the story was that basically NASCAR knows its policies need fine tuning, in respect to no ability to argue over the suspension, but they will not do anything until this case ends. Jeremy made some (seemingly) valid points for his cause but who really knows if he is telling the truth or a lie ??? |
