| McLaughlin's Take on Things Matt McLaughlin writes a good summary of the race at Charlotte Motor Speedway this week: The Frontstretch: Matt McLaughlin's Thinkin' Out Loud: Charlotte Fall Race Recap by Matt McLaughlin -- Monday October 19, 2009 I didn't bother to watch the race but from what I've read over the past two days I didn't miss much. Matt discusses it but throws in a few other opinions that made me pump my fist just a tiny a bit: The first NASCAR Hall of Fame class didn’t include David Pearson and Cale Yarborough, but did include two members of the France family that owns the joint, as announced by another member of the France family. If it’s any consolation, by the time Brian France is voted into the Hall it will be cockroaches casting the votes. As far as I’m concerned, the initial class destroys the legitimacy of the Hall as a legitimate Hall of Fame and leaves it, with all due apologies to Tom Robbins, Just Another Roadside Attraction. I’ve crossed it off my travel plans until they have Hooters girls washing Harleys in the parking lot free. This whole Transformers promotion is over now, right? Every time they mentioned that whole deal I felt a little barf trying to exit my nose. I guess this whole Optimus Prime thing appeals to folks who still express their occupation as somethingth grade. There was some talk a few years back when NASCAR and the tracks couldn’t keep up with ticket demand or the TV ratings about splitting the Cup series into two divisions, one running on the Left Coast and the other on the Right Coast. How about this? We have one division for the Rick Hendrick-owned and affiliated teams, and another for everyone else. That ought to restore some drama to at least one series title fight annually.

| Re: McLaughlin's Take on Things I never could understand why they only put 5 people in the HofF. We are talking 50 years of racing personalities and they should have put 20 in and then perhaps 5 each year afterwards. And, I was disappointed in the 'racing' this past Saturday night, the leader came off turn two and was gone .... |

| Re: McLaughlin's Take on Things I've read some of matt's articles and sometimes i wonder if he's stuck in the past like maybe 10 15 or 20 or even more years than that. 1 thing about nascar as with life is that things people and even names change. If nascar didn't change or keep up with the times than it wouldn't be as popular as it is today. I mean it seems like everything matt ever writes is negative or he's criticizing someone or something or that he writes about the same thing that's why i try not to read his articles most of the time. |

Personally, I find the guy hilarious, he comes up with some classic lines. Here's one that I used for my signature a while back... "drivers dancing around like they were on brown acid at a dead concert" (or something like that)
