2010 #1 driver to be named soon: Earnhardt Ganassi Racing is close to naming a driver for the #1 car next season and it apparently won't be Jamie McMurray, as has been widely speculated. A source close to the situation said McMurray, whose contract at Roush Fenway Racing is up after this season, no longer is in the picture and that two people are in the mix. Rumored drivers include: Bobby Labonte, Reed Sorenson, David Stremme, David Gilliland and Casey Mears.(see full post at ESPN Insiders)(10-16-2009)

what are people's obession with Gilly? He is the least talented out of any on that list. Did you watch the Nationwide race this Friday? If that wasn't a stupid move.

I'm not obessed with Gilliland. Just think out of the drivers named he'd be the best choice. Mears has been with top teams, and can't seem to do very much. Sorenson isn't that good either, to me. Stremme, same as Sorenson. Labonte was good.

Bobby Labonte: Nascar Champion, has proved that in a good ride he can run up front.

Reed Sorenson: Has done nothing in Nascar EVER

David Stremme: Same as above, he's had chances and hasn't show anything other than he can wreck.

David Gilliland: Just isn't a very smart driver and like the above two hasn't done anything.

Casey Mears: He was in Hendrick equipment and did NOTHING, in RCR and did NOTHING.

well guess I'd like to see blab get if he can't get in an RCR CAR, or mears get it just so I know that he is out at RCR.

Labonte should get the ride. He was close to getting a spot with the team last year, but ended up with HOF. He is the best man for the job.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but if JPM could be competitive in Ganassi equipment, why can't Reed? If Kahne can be competitive in RPM equipment, why can't Reed? It just gets tiring hearing people complain about Equipment. I bet Tommy Baldwin Racing would KILL to have the "second-rate" ride that Reed has.

The same applies to Stremme. Where is Kurt in the standings? Let's also be honest. How many times has Stremme not crashed out before his equipment blows up.
