Re: 2010 Inaugural NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductees

I think Nascar needs to add more for the first go around. Opening the doors with just 5 inductees just seems too small. Anywhere between 10 to 15 would have been better. Let the first year be the big one then go back down to 5 or even lower say 3 the years after that.

I know one thing that is for sure. I am not going to travel to see the HOF in its early years. I think I will wait for more to get inducted and for it to blossom more before I make that trip.

I will go to the HOF when they induct Jeff Gordon and set up an exhibit for the year about him for the year.

There's the inaugural class for the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Instead of Junior Johnson, I'd of put in Benny Parsons. But that's just me.

Benny was a good guy and I helped him win his championship in 73 but you need to look at the record books before making a statement like that.

The way the mentality is today with this johnny come lately to Cup racing crowd who knows absolutley nothing about how this sport got to where it's at would vote Dale Earnhardt junior into the Hall of Fame tomorrow.

Have you looked to see that David Pearson won 5 times the amount of races BP did and 3 times the championships?

Popularity vote should not be considered when it's time to look at Hall of Fame inductees.

Junior Johnson deserves to be there on the first go round, I witnessed what he done in and for the sport and no doubt he did more than the middle France did to make this sport what is was before the third generation started killing it off.

Both France's in the first vote? Not the way I would have done it. Big Bill, yes. There are numerous others, with David Pearson topping that list, that should/could/would have been more appropriate then Bill Jr.

I was already planning a 2 week drive to Charlotte next summer, to tour some of the shops and museums around the area. Regardless of how I felt about who and who shouldn't get in the hall of fame on the first go-round (I was on the pioneer side of it, btw), I've now added the HOF to the list, for obvious reasons.

heck if i had gone to my 2nd choice school i'd live half an hour away and go the day it opened instead i'll wait a little while probably...maybe till when bill elliott gets in about 15 years from now since i assume the first 25 will get in over the first 5 years then you'd have to start getting new guys

Agreed ! I saw ten or fifeteen even, if it weren't for the guys that got this started! They're would be no nascar! They should have also selected an Owner's category and inducted 1 or 2 Owners each year. Owners, and Media ETC. Look at T. Taylor Warren who has captured Every single Daytona 500 in Pictures. I believe they should have a media category and inducted him, and Glen Wood as the First Owner Inductee

Re: 2010 Inaugural NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductees

Looking at the list of people who got to vote I'd say nearly 75% of them never saw a NASCAR pre mid 1980's.

I didn't understand naming 25 and then going to 5. It just guarantees that 20 people go away butt hurt.

I thought the whole list of 25 was BS when Smoky Yunik wasn't on the list. Look under the hood of a cup car at any brand small block and he had more to do with the way they are still built than any one person in history.
