| Gillett, RPM Partnering with Saudi Prince of the Saudi Royal Family In what could turn out to be one of the oddest pairings in the history of American stock car racing, Richard Petty Motorsports’ primary shareholder George Gillett Tuesday signed an ‘exclusive commercial collaboration’ agreement for his stake in the team to Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah al-Saud, a member of the Saudi Royal Family. The agreement signed Tuesday forms a partnership that will see the development of a NASCAR racing circuit and Richard Petty racing schools in the Saudi Kingdom and elsewhere in the Middle East. According to many however the agreement signed Tuesday is the first step to Gillett selling his stake in the team. As the two were publicly confirming the agreement, behind the scenes, Gillett and Prince Faisal acting on behalf of the Saudi sports investment group F6 he chairs, have begun a process of ‘due diligence’, the examination of financial records, with the goal being that Gillett would be bought out by the end of the year. 1. He becomes majority owner after buying out Ray 2. He has a law suit with Robby Gordon 3. He becomes partners with Richard Petty 4. He has a law suit with Elliott Sadler after he fires Elliott 5. He fires Patrick Carpenter 3/4 thru the season 6. He cries and cries about dodges lack of support when he does nothing to earn this support 7. He has Kasey Kahne take PR pictures with a Toyota 8. He leaves dodge to merge with Robert Yates 9. He has drivers like and AJ driving for free 10. He gets in a heated argument with his competition director and fires him 11. Now he is selling his stake in the team to a Saudi prince!! WTF?!?! This guy makes me sick, he can't leave fast enough for me. I just feel bad for Richard Petty he is in a bad spot now. In fact I feel bad for any one who had to deal with this Jerk! |

| Re: Gillett, RPM Partnering with Saudi Prince of the Saudi Royal Family I did too!! If I were Kasey Kahne... I would leave right now..To hell with this! I wouldn't care what the legal percussions would be. |

This one just might have been one of the last nails in the coffin, as far as Bob is concerned.

I feel bad for Richard Petty. This George Gillett has taken one of the greatest AMERICAN names in ALL sports and sold it to a SAUDI. |

| Re: Gillett, RPM Partnering with Saudi Prince of the Saudi Royal Family This is ridiculous. George does not care whatsoever for traditions, or fans, or really anything about NASCAR itself! He is treating everything as a business and financial decision without regard to how it affects the sport. The sooner he gets out of this "business", the better.

| Re: Gillett, RPM Partnering with Saudi Prince of the Saudi Royal Family It's going to be really interesting to see how NA__AR's "Parrot Press" (FOX Sports, Charlotte Observer, Scene Daily and dweebs like Pete Pistone, Dave Moody, Dave Rodman and Jim McCoy) covers this and what they have to say. Of equal interest will be the reaction by blogs such as FrontStretch and Insider Racing News, neither of which are exactly awed by the direction NA__AR has taken. I will also be very interested in reading the reader comments on any article pertaining to this story. That could be a real eye opener. Or, people just might have become so complacent, and focused only on the drivers and the infernal playoffs that it won't mean anything to them? |

This reads to me like Gillett is just outright selling control of the team to the House of Saud, which is Wahabi by its very nature (They prefer to use the more politically correct term, "Salafism")! To anyone who had problems with Toyota, this makes that small potatoes and should sent you right up the proverbial wall! |

| Re: Gillett, RPM Partnering with Saudi Prince of the Saudi Royal Family I doubt that the Prince has much interest in Nascar, and I bet that Gillett forced this as a package deal with the Liverpool soccer team sale that is the only thing the Saudi is interested in. If this actually transpires, look for the Nascar part to be up for grabs the day after the ink dries. BBC NEWS | Business | Saudis confirm Liverpool interest
