Re: Gilliland in the #21 at Atlanta

I think Bobby showed this weekend that the problems at the 96 are not driver related and that he isn't washed up quite yet. I wonder if TRG and Bobby ask for his out right release from the 96. After actually driving something that could actually move to the front I don't know how he would want to get back into that 96 POS.

If he keeps running like that there will be some quality rides calling him later for next year. Like maybe the 1 car?

I agree with you. If there is no contract and one party leaves the other, even on a temporary basis, by mutual agreement, then no harm, no foul.

But what first got under my skin was this whole deal of swapping drivers at the whim of a sponsor. Yeah, I know it's all about money but there is (was?) such a thing as loyalty and ethical behaviour, which in my book, trumps money! (Maybe that's the reason I've remained a permanent member of the middle class all my life?)

There are conflicting reports on who pulled the plug first at TRG, Buckler or David. ESPN (who I see as having marginal credibility) says David. NASCAR.com (who is equally lacking in the credibility department) indicates TRG.

I'm now to the point where I could care less. From Roush/Yates/HOF to Labonte to Darnell to Gilliland to Gibbs to everyone involved in this mess, Good luck! The racing world is moving way to fast for me to keep up with. I think I'll just go out on my rear deck and smoke one of my Monte Cristo's, drink a Long Island Ice Tea and contemplate the squirrels in my back yard, and see if my neighbor's nubile college-aged daughter is going to sun bathe today.
don't forget to post pictures .. PG of course!

Bobby has turned down quality rides before 'cause he didn't care for the "quality" of either the owner or the team. And I think he's gotten "set in his ways" after his years at Petty Enterprises, so it wouldn't surprise me if he bowes out of an arrangement that doesn't set well with him in the future.

It was good to see him running in the Top 10 tonight .. too bad he didn't finish there, but considering where he was finishing, 18th is pretty good.
And David brought the Wood Brothers #21 home right behind Bobby in 19th. Meanwhile Darnell put the #96 into it's customary 30th spot.

So, all this speculation about Bobby and David being screwed over .. didn't work out that way tonight!!
