| Vickers signs extension with Red Bull Racing Team Win on Sunday ... sign on Tuesday. Red Bull Racing Team has signed Brian Vickers to a multiyear contract extension to his contract, the team announced Tuesday. Vickers, who won last weekend's race at Michigan, will continue to drive the No. 83 Toyota under the leadership of crew chief Ryan Pemberton. The team is continuing to prove that it is a consistent force week in and week out," Jay Frye, vice president and general manager of Red Bull Racing, said in a statement released by the team. "Brian has been here from the beginning and he continues to be a vital piece of the puzzle with regards to our ultimate goal of building Red Bull Racing into a consistent contender." Since joining Red Bull Racing in 2007, Vickers has one win, eight top-five finishes and 22 top-10s. "I'm thrilled," Vickers said in the statement. "This has been a long time coming, and there is no where else I would rather be. I am looking forward to building on what we have started the last couple of years. "It is an interesting experience being with a team from the ground up -- going through the growing pains, then successes, together. I am so proud to have been able to bring this team their first win." Vickers is 13th in the Sprint Cup Series standings, 12 points out of the top 12 and a berth in the Chase. | Re: Vickers signs extension with Red Bull Racing Team Smart move, Brian, smart move. To my knowledge Brother Dietrich has been ultra successful in every endeavor he's been involved with, first Unilever and now his own company. When you get in on the ground floor of an elevator headed to the penthouse, why get off at a lower floor when you have the chance to go all the way to the top?

Do you see his asociation with Brother Dietrich being successful? Maybe he just hasn't bloomed yet |

Bloom? like a flower? Pansy maybe? Paints his toenails blue..right. There was a rumor he had to leave open wheel because of trouble with his crew chief....never could run that rumor down. |

But, mark my words, Red Bull will be even more competitive next season. I think that they are getting as good tech help as JGR is getting, they just don't have the infrastructure that JGR has (yet). I think Vickers just might squeak into the playoffs and if he does he might be a problem for some of the "regular" playoff teams simply because no one has told him that he can't do it. No one has mentioned it yet but IF the last does happen, the next big rumor on jayski.com might be "Is Red Bull expanding to three teams?" Just some off-the-wall thoughts. Probably way off base but I think it's within the realm of possibility. |

Three teams at RB? Why not? It seems logical to me. |

| Re: Vickers signs extension with Red Bull Racing Team While it may seem logical, I would think that they should keep their current two teams and help Scott Speed mature into the Nascar racer he one day could be. I mean what do people expect him to win a bunch of races the first year he's in the Sprint Cup, so far only Montoya has done that, and even there he only won one race in his Rookie season. Not to mention Speed is only 26 points behind Logano in the Rookie of the year points. As Well, wouldn't it make sense to stay with 2 teams for atleast 2010 to get Vickers up into Chase Contention not that he isn't there already, what I'm trying to say is actually Challenge for the championship, I know, I know not many of you can see it, but if Vickers can prove to be a consistent racer and win a race or two next season why not?

| Re: Vickers signs extension with Red Bull Racing Team Rookie of the year huh? I just ain't sure about that! I mean...looking at the stats of the 2 guys and also Max Papis in their...even after reading that overview, I still don't understand! I mean,,,Logano has 1 win and 5 top 10s while speed only has 1 top 10 and is only 26 points behind? Max Papis has races 8 races with 1 top 10 and is only 128 points behind! I ain't sure but I would guess that 26 points behind is alot more then you might think! But on topic...I agree with just leaving Red Bull 2 teams for now. I mean...Speed is already under enough pressure having Vickers being this good! Just look at Jr. Though he might be doing crap this year, some of that might be with the pressure he has on him considering how good his teammates are running! He feels he needs to match them and tries to hard! And that is what I think would happen with Speed! They would get another good driver which would make speed think he was to compete with 2 drivers instead of 1. |

OTOH, it would make a lot of sense to expand. Another 1-2 teams would double his testing exposure and double the technical input. And Dietrich is all about building empires. Besides, I think the Red Bull teams have opened up a new market for the drink. I've noticed at my locals tracks they now sell a lot of Red Bull and at the local watering holes I see a number of people ordering Red Bull and vodka or whiskey. The more teams he has, the more chances for success and the more success, the more Red Bull he'll sell. It'll be interesting to watch. |

| Re: Vickers signs extension with Red Bull Racing Team He's in his first full season in Cup. I'll reserve judgement until he's got 2 or 3 seasons under his belt. And when I do pass judgement...it wont be because of what he wears or how he acts...it'll be based on his merits on the track. |
