Danica - Nascar rumors true

Danica - NASCAR rumors are true: The question Danica Patrick fans are asking most often is whether or not she'll try to move to NASCAR, following the lead of Dario Franchitti and Sam Hornish Jr. Franchitti struggled with the heavier stock cars last year and came back to IndyCar this season. "The NASCAR rumors are true," Patrick confirmed. "We're definitely exploring all the opportunities that are out there for me as a driver and as a business and a brand."(Vallejo Times-Herald)(8-13-2009)

Re: Danica - Nascar rumors true

She is only interested in the PR value, her "brand". She is a mid pack runner in Indycar. Look how long its taken Hornish to get a handle on these big cars and he's a former Indycar champ and until recently the "modern" record holder for the most wins.
Danica would be bad for NASCAR.

Re: Danica - Nascar rumors true

Yeah, I guess she hasn't been mentioned much in the media for a week or so, has she?

I'm beginning to wonder if DW and Mikey has set up some sort of school for self promotion and Princess Danica graduated valedictorian?

Ya'll are telling me that there is a rumor mill in NA_CAR. Say it's not so. I figured that the sport was above all that.

Re: Danica - Nascar rumors true

you people must remember that danica is a mega-magnet for sponsors.. this puts her in a position to follow the money trail....that trail leads to nascur....do you really believe her ability to drive a ''stock'' car has much concern to the people, [including her] that will fatten their wallets with a deal for her comming to nascur????

NA$CAR sponsors tend not to stick with drivers or teams that don't produce... with the exception of Michael Waltrip, they bail pretty fast.

Yeah. Ask Brett Bodine and RCR (Lowes).

Texaco is no longer with Yates, Lowes is no longer naming a track and I suspect Jr is in danger of losing sponsors, so to answer your question .... YES. Especially when those PEOPLE are sponsors.

That would be like Mac Tools sponsoring a female driver in ARCA. Oh, wait, they already did. What sponsor wouldn't want to have someone easy on the eyes to promote their product. Or are you telling me that you think the cute female cashier in all the Lowe's commercial is really a Lowe's employee?? Really?

Edit: Or worse yet, that same female driver having previously been seen driving a race TRUCK (!!!!!!). Don't you know trucks are only for men. So are gas and tools, apparently.

Re: Danica - Nascar rumors true

I just want to see qualified drivers in cars and trucks. I don't want to see someone there just because they have the sponsorship. Yes, I know its a $$$ driven business but when it comes down to watching good racing, talent over rules $$$ for me. Yep, $$$ will get you better equipment but its also something you should earn by your talent not your looks. This just doesn't apply to women drivers. It goes to the men too, who are constantly talked about being popular, not because of their driving ability but because of their looks.

that does not happen in nascur, and it does not happen in the smallest local track.....it is all about the $$$$$......they don't care about me or you...what ever will make them money....it is a business you know....
