South Florida vs. Elon

South Florida is playing who? The Elon Phoenix, who finished 5th in the Southern Conference in 2006 and will face such powerhouses as West Virginia Wesleyan, Wofford and Stony Brook later in the year. Think the Bulls should win this one? Oh, yeah. Look for big days from QB Matt Grothe, not to mention the awesome linebacking corps and secondary USF boasts this season. Big win here for the Bulls.

Re: South Florida vs. Elon

I don't know much (or anything really) about Elon but looking at stats from their last game, against Citadel...they need to have improved A LOT to contend with South Florida.

Not to mention this is a home game for the Bulls, so they should coast pretty easily this week.

Re: South Florida vs. Elon

South Florida started out their season with a victory over Elon, 28-13. The running back who was going to Alabama before they fired Shula ran for 83 yards and scored three times for the Bulls, Mike Ford (and he only rushed six times).

The Bulls defense only allowed one touchdown, which came in the fourth quarter. A nice start although South Florida didn't pull away until late in the third quarter.

Re: South Florida vs. Elon

Yeah, it surprised me how close this one was, considering. USF looked good defensively, but the offense needs to get off to a much quicker start.
