Wounded Spurrier faces Gators

GAINESVILLE - Steve Spurrier's longest losing streak as a head coach was four in a row in 1987.
"I remember that year," Spurrier said on Sunday. "We lost six, and we were 5-6, and five of them were seven points or less. So at least we're losing by more than seven, I guess, right now."
But the man who haters have called Steve Superior is now confronted with having Team Inferior.
His South Carolina team was ranked in the top 10 in the polls just a few weeks ago, but the Gamecocks (6-4 overall, 3-4 in the Southeastern Conference) have lost three in a row going into next Saturday's 7:45 p.m. game against Florida (6-3, 4-3). Losing isn't something Spurrier is used to, especially not the way USC was run over by Arkansas in a 48-36 defeat Saturday. Darren McFadden broken an SEC record with 321 yards. The Hogs had over 500 yards on the ground.
Such a humbling defeat prompted Spurrier to ponder the future this week.
