Smelley in starter's seat

South Carolina quarterback Chris Smelley will get another chance to start Saturday at Tennessee. If things go well, Smelley will finish the game, too.
Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier threw open the quarterback job this week following Smelley’s shaky, two-interception performance in a 17-6 loss to Vanderbilt. But the right-hander from Tuscaloosa, Ala., held off Tommy Beecher and Blake Mitchell to keep his spot for at least another week.
