| Football | Notes: Vandy keeping QB decision under wraps The identity of Vanderbilt’s starting quarterback remains a mystery for Saturday’s game at South Carolina. Whoever it is, the Gamecocks likely will have to prepare for a pair of dual-threat players. Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson was mum Monday on which quarterback would start. Junior Chris Nickson has made 18 consecutive starts, but backup Mackenzi Adams has rotated with Nickson the past two weeks. Nickson has struggled the past two weeks, and was 2-of-5 for 6 yards in Saturday’s loss to Auburn. Adams was 7-for-10 for 125 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 46 yards. Nickson is still the Commodores’ third-leading rusher. Adams was named the team’s offensive player of the game, but Johnson said it “meant Mackenzi played well,” emphasizing the past tense.
