| Spurrier criticizes his second-half play-calling CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A tough day for South Carolina’s offensive line led to a verbal spanking from coach Steve Spurrier after the game. Spurrier said at least one guard would not have a job against Vanderbilt this week but didn’t divulge a name. “Some of our guards don’t block worth a dang,” he said. The woes in the trenches were part of a second-half breakdown that saw the Gamecocks’ offense shut out in the second half. The other part, according to Spurrier, was the play calling. “I’m responsible for that putrid offense,” Spurrier said. “We were up 21-3, so I’m calling that conservative run-run crap.” Full Story
