Instead, Davis focused on the next opponent, No. 7 USC, and not just because it marks the return of old nemesis Steve Spurrier to the state of North Carolina.
No, it was the Gamecocks’ defense that stood out to Davis, a former defensive coordinator. While other coaches have remarked on the overall stinginess of the unit, Davis marveled at USC’s different lineups, coverages and blitz patterns.
