Linebacker Reggie Bowens (6-foot-2, 218 pounds) of Garner, N.C., who has been favoring USC for several weeks, officially committed to the Gamecocks on Thursday.

"I think they have a good coaching program and are going to do good things in the years to come," Bowens said. "They are looking for speed, and that's something I can bring to the table."

Through six games he has 81 tackles and four sacks.

He is the 11th commitment for the 2008 USC class.

Clemson baseball adds two transfers

Clemson has added transfers Mike Freeman and Clinton McKinney to its roster, the school announced.

Freeman, from Orlando, Fla., played infield for Georgia last season, where he hit .237 with 14 runs scored and eight RBIs in 48 games.

McKinney, from Greenville, pitched for two seasons with the University of North Carolina Greensboro, largely in relief. He was 3-6 with a 3.97 ERA and two saves with the Spartans.

Garner linebacker Bowens commits to USC
