| Dismissal clouds future for USC recruit King Jarriel King’s future at South Carolina remains in doubt after the Gamecocks’ recruit was accused of taking money from a teammate at Georgia Military College last month. King, a defensive lineman from North Charleston, is charged with theft by taking after he was observed on video surveillance cameras entering teammates’ rooms while they were at practice, according to an incident report obtained Wednesday by The State. King, considered to be one of the nation’s top junior college defensive line prospects, was dismissed from the two-year school in Milledgeville, Ga., following the Aug. 12 incident. Though a teammate’s $5 bill was the only item reported missing from the barracks, Georgia Military College coach Bert Williams said King’s actions were “egregious enough to dismiss one of the top two or three D-line prospects in the country.” The 6-foot-7, 285-pound King signed with the Gamecocks in 2005 as part of Steve Spurrier’s first USC recruiting class. After failing to qualify, King remained in North Charleston trying to achieve the necessary test score before enrolling at GMC in 2006. He committed to USC a second time and hoped to enroll in January. King’s immediate plans are uncertain. A woman who answered King’s cell phone and identified herself as his mother said she was unsure what King would do this semester. Junior college prospects must earn their two-year degrees to be eligible at a four-year school. Spurrier said he would wait to see how King’s situation unfolded before deciding whether to continue recruiting him. Dismissal clouds future for USC recruit King
