| South Carolina's Geathers makes return trip to Athens Clifton Geathers will play in Athens after all. Geathers, South Carolina’s freshman defensive end from Georgetown County, will make the trip this week to Georgia, the school to which he first committed. The 6-foot-7, 276-pound Geathers planned to follow his brother’s lead and play for the Bulldogs. But after initially failing to make the necessary test score, Geathers enrolled at Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy last fall. Amid the marching, Geathers did an about-face, choosing the Gamecocks over Georgia. “I just wasn’t feeling it at all,” Geathers said Monday. Geathers shot down speculation that Georgia had cooled on him. “Georgia didn’t stop at all. Not at all,” said Geathers, adding that he remains close with Bulldogs coach Mark Richt and assistant Rodney Garner. “I could call them right now if I wanted to just talk to them.” Geathers makes return trip to Athens
