Spurrie will rue the day he spurned Alabama

When Steve sees what Saban got does he kick himself? 40 Million buys alot of golf and he could have added another couple of National Titles to boot. PING isn't the golf clubs its the rocks in Spurrier's head.

ROLL TIDE ROLL !!!

Re: Spurrie will rue the day he spurned Alabama

I guess now Spurrier is the education coach.... he could have had 40 Million. That has to hurt his pride to know how much he was worth and what he settled for. He should have gone on NBC's Deal or No Deal.

What's the fuss all about...both sucked in the NFL...and crawled back to the college game...

Spurrier did it with some sort of dignity. Spurrier's style isn't going to be as good at the pro level. Spurrier resigned and took a year off from coaching. Saban jumped ship and didn't even have the balls to tell his staff in person.

Well sure if you are going to bring up dignity...even Spurrier has a leg up on Saban...

Re: Spurrie will rue the day he spurned Alabama

at Least Spurrier admitted that he failed and the pro game was not for him. Saban tried to say that he left the Dolphins in better shape after his two years ...

Better shape for what? A higher draft pick?

In a weird way Saban did leave them in better shape. No dope smoking Ricky Williams with a high price salary. Say what you want but the injury bug did affect the team tremendously this past year. Culpepper didn't forget how to QB overnight. During the preseason and first of the year the Dolphins looked competitive as any squad. The inner turmoil in the locker room was addressed by Saban now if it is fixed or not next season will be another coaches problems. I think the Owner was exposed for what he is. In the NFL owners think they have to be part of the game like Jerry Jones or Al Davis. Just because they are blessed with money they have to throw thier weight around. Saban just got tired of dealing with it and went back to his roots. I can't say I blame him.

Re: Spurrie will rue the day he spurned Alabama

So ... all the responsibilities that you have as an NFL coach were too much for him. He sure threw in the towel quickly!

Culppeper has been terrible for a couple of years now. He was terrible his last y ear at Minnesota. They screwed up when they took him over Brees ... wasn't SAban in charge of personnel decisions too? I believe he wanted complete control. I guess he got it but didn't want complete responsibility.

The only reason Ricky wasn't there was because he got busted... SAban had nothing to do with that.

Well before you render judgment on Saban let's see who comes in if they do any better.

With Cam Cameron coming in ... I doubt they will improve.

I doubt Cam has complete control like Nick the slick did.

Then that is his fault.
