Eric Norwood honored

University of South Carolina defensive end Eric Norwood was named to the first team Freshman All-America squad... Norwood, a 6-2, 258-pound true freshman from Acworth, Ga., leads the team and is tied for seventh in the SEC with 7.0 sacks, figuring in on five solo and four assisted sacks. He also leads the Gamecocks with five quarterback hurries and is third on the squad with 9.0 tackles for loss among his 29 total stops.

Norwood, Paulk Earn Freshman All-America Honors

Boy, oh, boy... with this kid Norwood as well as SEC All-Freshmen Paulk and Cook, it looks like Spurrier will have quite a defense for the next couple of seasons, doesn't it?

I played football with Eric for three years at North Cobb. He was a junior when i was a senior. So I played against Kenny McKinnley also. I think both are going to have HUGE years. I mean Eric had 7 sacks i believe and didnt even start. McKinnley pulled in 800+ yards as a redshirt fresh/soph?

I expect big things out of both of them. Eric is a good kid also, I know he'll stay outta trouble
