Interesting match-up. I think the Gamecocks have the edge, though. Who do you like in this one?

Re: Liberty Bowl: South Carolina vs. Houston

I feel like we, USC, should win, assuming we don't revert back to the way we played at the beginning of the season. I don't think that will happen as it was primarily caused by our O line having little experience at the time. Once we found the right chemistry and they got some game experience, we've been getting a little better each week. Started when Blake took back over at half time of the Ark. game. Since then we've play OK, not great by any means, but good enough to stay in games and have a chance to win. SOS is getting everything together and we're coming along. GO COCKS!

Re: Liberty Bowl: South Carolina vs. Houston

Hard fought win for South Carolina, but a win nonetheless, and Gamecocks QB Blake Mitchell throws for 323 yards and 4 TDs in a 44-36 win over the Houston Cougars. Exciting game -- over 1,000 yards of total, combined offense on the evening, with both Mitchell and Houston's Kevin Kolb topping 300 yards passing (Kolb had 386 with 3 TDs). What did you guys think of this one?

Gamecocks Outlast Cougars In Liberty Bowl, 44-36

South Carolina and Houston put on a record-setting offensive show for the first 30 minutes of the Liberty Bowl. The Gamecocks provided the defense when it mattered most. Defensive end Jordin Lindsey came up with two turnovers for a defense that slowed down Houston in the second half, and South Carolina beat the Cougars 44-36 Friday for its first bowl victory under coach Steve Spurrier. Blake Mitchell tied a bowl record by throwing four touchdown passes, Cory Boyd ran for two more TDs as the Gamecocks (8-5) finished Spurrier's second season with their best record since going 9-3 in 2001.

Re: Liberty Bowl: South Carolina vs. Houston

While it was not a defensive showcase, I thought the game was very entertaining.

I think Kevin Kolb will go on to the pros and have a good career.

I was impressed with Blake's decision making ... although I think Spurrier may have had a big part in that. It seemed he tried to go to Rice constantly in the first half, and switched to McKinley exclusively in the second half.

Cory Boyd and Mike Davis continue to be a very good 1 - 2 punch in the back field.

Overall it was a very fun game to watch and I am very excited about next year.
