I don't know if you guys have heard about this, but I saw this online and thought that I would post it here. Just thought it was some very interesting information.

Re: Spurrier to Miami

Thats interesting, never imagined Spurrier going to Miami, I'm still kinds hoping for Schiano.
I posted a Canes thread earlier today saying they have began the search to replace Coker at the end of the season. Spurriers name never came up in the article.

The plot thickens.

Re: Spurrier to Miami

No freaking way!

Quote:
According to sources late Saturday, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier will likely be named the next head coach at Miami. Spurrier, who won a national championship at Florida, is in his second season with the Gamecocks with a 13-10 overall record, including 6-5 in 2006. The coach is in the second year of a seven-year contract.
I can't imagine this. Does Spurrier love the state of Florida that much? He'd have a better recruiting base at Miami but it's not like South Carolina is bad. And it sure looks like he's making good progress on the South Carolina program.

I'd just be really surprised to see a Spurrier to Miami move.

Is this being talked about anywhere else?

Re: Spurrier to Miami

Unreal - this came out of literally NOWHERE, but it makes sense. It gets him back in Florida, where I'm sure he still has strong recruiting ties, and back in the national spotlight. And for the Canes, it gives them a seasoned coach with instant credibility, and will likely have an instant impact on recruiting. After the initial shock wears off, the move really makes sense for both parties.

UNC denied that Butch Davis was going to be there coach for about a week. So we will just have to wait to see what happens.

Re: Spurrier to Miami

Since his hiring at SC, I always had the feeling that he was just waiting on something better to come along. This would immediately make the Canes a force again.
