| Beckham reluctant to return to US David Beckham says he would be reluctant to return to the LA Galaxy as he seeks to make permanent his loan spell with Serie A club AC Milan. Galaxy are unhappy Milan failed to meet a Major League Soccer deadline over any move on Friday for the 33-year-old. BBC Sport understands that AC Milan representatives will fly to Los Angeles this week for further negotiations. The England midfielder said: "I've said I want to stay at Milan and I haven't changed my mind, but it's out of my hands." BBC SPORT | Football | Europe | Beckham reluctant to return to US

| Re: Beckham reluctant to return to US Not when it comes to lots and lots and lots and lots of it... Basically Beckham can never meet expectations here. He was build as a goal scorer in the US, which he is not...Beckham can set the table with his passing, but he is not a striker that can get you 20 goals in a 30 game season...and fans in the US will never get that.

He was originally shipped to LA to promote the game, which he did, the fact he has played so little was always going to be a factor but his game has always been about his passing, he is one of the most over rated players in the world

| Re: Beckham reluctant to return to US just curious, who besides Beckham are the "elite" players on the world stage? maybe it's just the circles I run in (pun intended), but I hardly ever hear another soccer player's name in the news unless it's about some match or the olympics.

But you can take the Brazilian National Team, add some Primier League players, sprinkle in some Italians and Germans, and a dash or two of Spanish League players and you have a World Stage |

| Re: Beckham reluctant to return to US I fear you and I are going to be heading down and old road here Goth, but I will have to disagree with you...Beckham was never one of the best in the world, he has a talent that no other soccer player has, but that talent does not add up to him being a good player or among the worlds elite |

| Re: Beckham reluctant to return to US Quote:
Goalkeepers Gianluigi Buffon Petr Chec Iker Casillas Defenders Carles Puyol Rio Ferdinand John Terry Fabio Cannavaro Namanje Vidic Midfield Ronaldinho Ronaldo (from Manchester United) Cesc Fabregas Andre Pirlo Lionel Messi Steven Gerrard Forwards Kaka Fernando Torres David Villa there are a lot more but im just thinking off the top of my head. There are several definitions to the best in the world or the worlds elite but the players on the list are the kind that are the best at their position, have an all round footballing talent and could walk in to any team in the world right now and demand a huge wage for their services |

But a two-time runner up for World Football Player of the year with 108 caps is an elite in any era... That he has talent, more so... That you don't like him, that is personal taste...not a knack against Beckham... |

| Re: Beckham reluctant to return to US I watched the Inter - Milan game last night for half an hour or so (until I dozed off) and during that time Mr. Beckham did a good job of blending with the background. Certainly nothing above average in his play - evidently the TV people didn't think so either 'cause I only remember a couple times when the camera isolated him .. and that was while he was trotting from one part of the field to another. However we were treated with at least 30 replays from 7-8 different camera positions of Inter's first goal (it was spectacular, but it got a bit boring after the first 20 or so replays...) In fact, they used replays of that goal as filler during the slow periods of the game, which got very confusing if you weren't paying close attention! |

And yes, when you play for elite teams, England, Italy, Brazil, Agrentina, Germany etc and you log over 100 Caps, you are an elite... 100 Caps for Trinidad and Tobago, or Jamacia etc...no...doesn't mean a darn thing...but 100 Caps for England? you bet you are an elite. |
