Well this one was decided with a penalty kick from the ageless Zinedine Zidane. Frankly I did not see a France and Italy match as a possiblity...but it happened....so much for my knowledge of the game.


MUNICH, Germany (AP) -- Leave it to the French to give this World Cup a sense of deja vu.
Zinedine Zidane had been there before, standing behind the penalty spot, with a chance to gain glory for himself and France.
With sweat dripping off his bald pate, he faced Ricardo Pereira, 12 yards from the goal. And with the composure gained from so many tough games over the years, he kicked the ball just inside the post.
The shot was perfect. Though the goalkeeper correctly chose a dive to his right, the ball barely eluded his fingertips. In a match that turned on one penalty kick awarded and another denied, Zidane's goal in the 33rd minute gave France a 1-0 victory over Portugal on Wednesday night and a berth against Italy in an all-blue World Cup final, Les Bleus vs. the Azzurri.

I just have to say that I absolutly could not be happier about he French soccer team. I have won a few bets because of them and they continue to impress me. so basically all I can say is GO FRENCH!!!!!

Welcome AmbroseVB, what made you so confident in France going in? This was an aging team not slated to do well...what made you feel they were worth a bet or two?

What made me so confident??? I don't know I think it has to do with a mix of things. Such as I just like france to begin with and second of all I france has a lot of cute guys on the team...haha I know typical girl huh? Maybe thats what made me so confident....hottness always wins....lol sorry that was a really bad explination for why I like them huh?

Nope...we got you down for "hottness" as the reason...using the same rule of thumb, who is going to take the World Series in baseball this year or the Super Bowl...and why (as in who do they have who is hot?)
