| Columbus Crew and West Ham Fans Riot In a pre-season exhibition game, fans from the Columbus Crew were involved in a 'good old' soccer riot, when they came to blows with fans from English team West Ham. Members of the West Ham 'firm' (Firm - a gang of soccer hooligans who follow their respective teams and are often involved in altercations with opposing fans) the ICF or 'Inter City Firm', decided to enter into the part of the stadium containing Columbus Crew fans and after a 45 minute half of constant back-and-forth chanting between the two sets of fans, fighting broke out in one of the stands. Fortunately no one was killed or seriously hurt and in terms of soccer riots this was on a very small scale...but unfortunately a situation such as this simply confirms the stereotype of the 'British Soccer Hooligan.'
