Soccer growing in the US

i think the USA is doing good the last couple of years, they need a superstar to get soccer really on tilt in de USA. And not a hype like Adu, he's good, but far from a superstar like Kaka or Ronaldinho.

Soccer needs a lot more than one superstar to get the American public watching.

Re: Soccer growing in the US

the problem with soccer in the states? it arrived to late, you cant expect a game like soccer to compete with the 'top 4' in the US that have been around forever, developed a major fan base and in most cases have the colours of certain teams running through generation after generation.

i think that soccer will develop more of a fan base than it has done before but in terms of being able to compete with football, baseball, basketball and hockey it will never happen. maybe in 10 years or so soccer will be the 5th american sport but right now its competing with the likes of golf and college sports for that position
