Re: English Premier League Thread

Its Final at the Valley, Charlton 0-0 Reading...

Few, but still golden chances came out of both teams where both defenses are stingy, but Charlton stays undefeated in the last half month,

Look at the first post for more fixtures and later man...

Re: English Premier League Thread

yeah but being in the national team means nothing i mean a guy that was in the division below the Premier league has played AND SCORED for the national team, but i think he was a good player, a very tough, strong defender but not one of the greats and Arsenal got him for free and sold him for only a couple of million so i wouldnt say he demanded a huge transfer fee

At the peak of his career, the man commanded a huge fee...that his contract expired and he wanted to play for Arsenal (which I do not hold against him) and they got him without Tottenham getting a fee is a different matter...

As of 2006, the guy also has 69 caps and had the distinction of playing in 6 straight major tournaments...and the Brits national team second youngest captain...I guess if all that doesn't add up to great, pray tell what the term great within the Premier league means?

Re: English Premier League Thread

great players, Best, Moore, Linekar, Keane, Shearer, Adams, Giggs, Schmicheal, Mark Huges, Zola, Vieira, Bergkamp... in the modern day you have players like Drogba, Henry, Gerrard, Ronaldo..the list goes on...im not saying that Campbell was a bad player i think he was a very good player but he was no way a great one, people wont look back in 50 years time and name him in the list of GREAT players in his generation, and he may have 69 caps but that means nothing there are lesser players who have more caps for their countires, playing in 6 major tournaments also means nothing becuase once again there are lesser players who have player in more

You forgot second youngest captain for the Brits...an honor that most of that list do not have...and he played in 6 majors in a row...which no other Brit has done...and 69 caps might not mean much for another country, heck the US has plenty of players with +100 caps, but for the British team, I do think it is something...Giggs for instance playing for a Wales team of lesser talent pool has only 62 caps total...

What's more, its not apples to apples when you throw the Shearer, Bergkamp, Linekar and Ronaldo in...they are high profile strikers for the most part...not defensive players...so that skews popular opinion...

Still think you are not giving my man Sol enough credit....
