| Re: How would the New York Cosmos fair in today's MLS? Found this old thread when just poking around... The answer? About as well as Gretzky's Edmonton Oilers or Jordan's Chicago Bulls would fare in the NHL today. That is to say they'd smoke 'em, chew 'em up, spit 'em out, bend, fold, spindle and mutilate them and otherwise just plain win the huge majority of games. Dude, Pele. Cheers.

I remember that game! I'm so glad not to be alone anymore...i think Al Michaels called the game, and it was on ABC Wide World of Sports. It was one of my first vivid sports memories, right up there with Reggie in 1977 Game Six, Super Bowl XI, and Bucky Dent's homer. And yeah, i remember Carlos Alberto, Davis and Giorgio Chinaglia...o, Chinaglia. He was awesome. The Cosmos would have won the 1984 season as well. If you recall, the entire league was reduced to them and the Vancouver Whitecaps... Cheers. |
