Jim Zorn has accepts..

Jim Zorn has accepted an offer to become offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins, sources said.

Zorn, 54, has coached quarterbacks for the Seattle Seahawks since 2001. He was previously quarterbacks coach for Detroit from 1998 to 2000.
Zorn's hiring comes as the Redskins continue their search for a head coach.
Zorn reportedly met with Redskins owner Daniel Snyder this week. He returned to Seattle, spoke with the Seahawks about a new deal and decided the Redskins' offer provided his best option. Zorn's deal with Washington is expected to cover three years.

Seattle's offensive staff has enjoyed remarkable stability during Mike Holmgren's nine-year run as head coach. But with Holmgren deciding to step down after the 2008 season, key staff members are considering their options.

I think it was a dumb move on his part and wish we could've done something to make him want to stay but I do wish him the best of luck, except of course against the hawks. Maybe its a ploy by the skins to finally figure out a way to beat us, oh well. Jim, you will be missed!

At 54, maybe he too is thinking about retirement and Snyder's money for three years makes for a good head start towards retirement...always liked Zorn.

Hey, good move for him. Obviously he's thinking career advancement. Think he can be a head coach someday?

Maybe for a team like Atlanta or Baltimore. I think he should have stuck with the team who made him who he is in the first 5 years of his career.

Well don't forget, he coached for the Lions first before returning to Seattle. As a coach, I don't think he owes the Hawks any extra loyalty considering they weren't even the team to give him his first shot as a coach. I don't mean this as any knock on the Seahawks or anything, just saying that he was right to take the promotion, even if it meant moving on elsewhere.

Loyalty in the NFL?? You have got to be kidding. The Hawks could have dumped him any time and would have said its just business.

It is just the natural progression. When a coach excels at his job, another team is going to try an take them away.

Yeah, that's basically what I'm saying. He doesn't owe the Seahawks anything. He did the job he was paid to do, and now he's moved on, and up.

I always thought being in the nfl was more than just a job, not just getting paid for what your supposed to do......

Why would it be more than just a job, especially to the coaches? If the Hawks were struggling, they'd show no loyalty to Zorn (nor would any other team). So why should he stay with them at the cost of career advancement? I'm sure like every other coach in professional sports, Zorn has entertained the thought of being a head coach someday. Well, he can't do that unless he starts moving up in the world and making a name for himself in the coaching ranks.
