Cool Sean Alexander

Is there any doubt that Sean Alexander is washed up? The guy just can't run anymore.

Think Seattle dumps him in the offseason?

Re: Sean Alexander

It's amazing how quickly great RBs can lose it.

Re: Sean Alexander

I think he may just have been too hurt this season, and couldn't get on track. I bet they let him have next season to turn it around. It isn't like they have anybody better.

I don't know if they can with the salary cap implications. In retrospect it was a bad contract. Good running backs usually only have so much in the tank.

Their replacements can come out of nowhere: Ryan Grant, Ahmad Bradshaw, Earnest Graham etc...

Re: Sean Alexander

I have always been hated by my friends about my perception of Alexander and here is why.

Alexander is a Great RB who was behind a Great O-Line, thus his production was outstanding.

We lost Steve Hutchinson and more sacks, less time in pocket for Matt, HUGE loss in production for Alexander and to top it off Injuries across the Offensive board.

Biggest mistake was when our team chose Alexander over Hutch.

Put a Good RB behind a Great O-Line, he will do better than a Great RB behind a Bad O-Line.

When Alexander broke the record and got the contract I was mad as hell. My friend told me I was a fool to think of getting rid of Alexander after that record breaking season. I told him simply, no O-Line means no record breaking season. We will get sacked more we will get hurt more and we did. He now has new found respect for O-Linemen who are often overlooked.

My opinion for the short term change? Grab Alan Faneca when he hits Free Agency. Hes a leader and as talented as they come. Next find a way to soften our cap by somehow ridding ourselves of Alexander through trade even if means take next to nothing for him. Next get a RB to replace since ours cannot step up. I say we try to nab Chester Taylor from Vikings since they are sure to use Adrian Peterson more and Taylor is good enough to start on most teams. (Guess who has been blocking for them? Steve Hutchinson anyone?)

Now we have addressed The O-Line gap (so long Walter Jones stays a while longer) got some veteran leadership, and a proven RB who can run behind a good offensive line which we would now have. Matt will also see more production from this as well with more time in pocket and not the entire game on his back. As for Defensive side of things? I just want to see improvement at CB other than Marcus, and at the DT position as well. Brandon Mebane however has alot of potential so keep your eyes out for him.

Long term? Matt will be gone, and I am a Charlie Frye fan since he reminds me of Rich Gannon. Widely underrated young QB who has tons of potential in the short game. He will be perfect for our offense since he doesn't have so much arm as to go down field, however can check it short very well. No sense being able to throw a ball out of the stadium if you don't know which side it will come out. Vick anyone? Frye got a bad wrap, and I hope he will get another shot otherwise he really will be another Rich Gannon. Gannon would have gone down in history as one the greatest ever, but didn't get to shine until he was in his 30's. (Still cannot get over Marty benching him in the playoffs for the now seemingly uninjured Elvis Grbac when it was Gannon who got the Chiefs to the playoffs!)

Sorry for the tangent, but a lot good info there. Take it how you want it.
