Having said that, I do not care for Mike, or the Seahawks, ...I just find it hard that a person with his level of success would really dwelt on this for this long...doesn't jive ... |

Re: Holmgren still not over Super Bowl Possibly, but Mike's been around the media for a long time. He knows what they're like. I don't think he would've just innocently said it as though he were griping to an old buddy about it over a beer, you know?

I think for Seattle's first away game this year, the opposing fans should throw Kleenex down on the field for Mike Maybe if Holmgren

Re: Holmgren still not over Super Bowl The officiating wasn't that bad. At least not compared to the Colts-Steelers or Broncos-Patriots games. It receives an excess of media attention because one it is the superbowl, and two both judgement calls (The pass interference call in the end zone and giving Roethlisberger the TD) went the way of the team that eventually won the game. If both calls had been reversed in Seattle's favor, it would have been the difference in the game (technically, but I will assume The Steelers would have either kicked a field goal or put it in the end zone on the ensuing play) but dem's the breaks. What does Holmgren want? A text message poll on which way the call should have gone to be the determinant? I can guarantee he would have lost that one as well. They were judgement calls and it is unfortunate, but with all the parity in the modern day NFL, more and more games will be decided in this same fashion.

Re: Holmgren still not over Super Bowl Regardless of whether or not the officiating was bad, he needs to move on. He's not doing his 2006 football team any favors by continuing to dwell on the past like this. Maybe he figures last year was Seattle's one and only shot to win it all. You think?

Re: Holmgren still not over Super Bowl Yes I do. The NFC should be vastly improved coming into this season (every team in The NFC East, The Vikings, and there are always teams that come out of the woodwork. Who the hell knows what even The Rams are going to do next year). Thats the only reason the draft is so compelling to me this year, who can really improve their stock, get over the hump and make the conference competitive again? The NFC has been somewhat dominated since The Packers last won their Superbowl, I think they have won just two in the past nine years (Tampa Bay in '03 and St. Louis in in '00).

Re: Holmgren still not over Super Bowl The officiating was without a doubt horrible, but Mike needs to move on at this point. To continue complaining about it may just insure that the refs will continue to shaft the Seahawks. The history of bad calls against Holmgren's Seahawks goes back several years but most people outside of Seattle are unaware of how many times it has happened to them. Seattle should be a solid team again this year and hopefully they can take care of business and finish it with a win this time.
