Is Seattle OT Walter Jones the best player in the NFL? One Sporting News writer thinks so.

Walter Jones may not be the most exciting player in the NFL -- he's an offensive tackle, for cryin' out loud -- but he is the most efficient. Instead of making big plays, he prevents them. Over and over and over, with the consistency of a fine timepiece.

The Seahawks' left tackle makes domination so routine, he barely is noticed. But we are not taking Jones for granted. On our list of the 101 best players in the NFL, he's No. 1.

Dolphins left tackle L.J. Shelton says he likes to watch Jones on tape. "He makes it look easy," Shelton says. "He was born to play left tackle. There are things he can do physically I just can't do. There are things he does linebackers probably can't do. He's in a class all his own."

So what do you think? Is Seahawks OT Walter Jones the best player, at any position, in the National Football League? And if not Jones, than who gets your vote for the top honor?

Jones is without a doubt the best offensive lineman in the NFL. Whether you consider him the best player period, that's up to each person. I wouldn't think so.

How did Osi do yesterday against Walter? 2 tackles and 0 sacks? I would say Walt dominated him and watching the game live and then again on Tivo when I got home I can confirm that.

Osi did great last year agains Walter but Jones was injured that game. Not to use that as an excuse but it does help explain it a bit. Also there is no way Jones would let someone beat him twice in a row. Like Ray Rhodes said "When Walter goes up against the majority of the guys in the league, it’s like you put the guy in a paper bag and carry him around and hold him up for game day and whip his butt and put him back in there." Great description of how dominant Walter is.
