Ichiro Ties AL Record for Consecutive 200-Hit Seasons

The summer of records keeps plowing right along. This certainly isn't as jaw-dropping as Barry Bonds' new home run mark or Roger Clemens' 350 games won, ( or is it?) but just a bit ago, Ichiro Suzuki homered off Clemens -- oddly enough -- giving him 200 hits on the season.

That ties Suzuki with Wade Boggs for the American League record of consecutive 200-hit seasons with seven. The current major league mark is eight seasons, held by Willie Keeler (1894-01). So yes, Ichiro sits on the verge of owning a record over 100 years old.

Ichiro may be the quietest Hall of Famer to ever play the game. He's been so good for so long, and yet he hear so little about him it seems.

He's a hitting matching and 7 straight 200 is as hard as 350 wins...If not there would be more hitters with the mark and less pitchers pass 350. The guy has never missed the mark since he started playing...imagine if his career had been state side the whole time...he might take aim at some absurd number like 4,000 hits...as it is, we are still debating his Hall of Fame credentials…

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think he officially ended the debate yesterday, and if he hasn't, he will next year when he gets his 8th 200-hit season.

Chick dig the long ball...that's why there was even a debate...heck it took a whole year of arguing with Lengend to get him to come on over to this side of the fence...

I will admit he is a Hall of Famer as long as he plays the ten years. How about the other day when he ran off the field rather than be tagged in a rundown and then told the press it was because he doesn't like to be touched? Weird.

I think if he quit tomorrow, he's be in the HOF and deservedly so. I don't think I've ever seen anybody handle a bat like this guy.

I agree with the first part, but I think Teddy Ballgame and Tony Gwynn might take issue with the second bit.

Teddy Ballgame definitely...I personally like him over Gwynn...but that is a personal choice thing...

I never saw Ted Williams play...And Gwynn, Boggs, Brett, it's all arguable but it just seems to me that Ichiro puts the ball wherever he wants....
