Re: Ichiro Suzuki Slump

Ichiro is hitting .315 with 1 home run and 15 RBI. 68 for 215, with only 5 doubles and 1 triple, with 35 runs scored and 16 stolen bases. Hardly eyepopping numbers by his standards. By far his most important contribution to Seattle is scoring runs, with over 100 each of his 5 full seasons in the bigs.

I can't believe you guys are missing the point...he had a horrible first month and by the second he is a solid .300 hitter...The guy is hitting .346 in May, with 3 triples and 8 steals...he has 22 multiple hit games as well...how can you say he is not up to his standards right now?...he is on par to having a typical Ichiro year...he has a big arm in the outfield, fields, runs, steals, gets on base...is durable...has cranked out 200 hits years in and out...few leadoff hitters in his class...and all I hear is how he is not up to his own standard...you can't find half a dozen hitters more consistent over the past 6 or 7 years...and all I hear is, he is slumping...he isn't himself...are you guys following the same game I am?

Re: Ichiro Suzuki Slump

Ichiro is not in the top 125 for on base percentage in all of baseball, and he is 32nd in total runs scored. He has only walked 15 times. I am watching the same game you are.

Nope...you are not...go back and re-read all of this thread...let me say it again..."The man always has a slow April"...and then gets rolling...his on base pct may be lower...but his abilty to run when he gets on cancels that out...16 steals already with 5 doubles and 3 triples gets him into scoring position a lot more than an average guy with a higher on base percetage...that is why he scores his 100 runs a season...

Come on legend...how many better leadoff guys are there out there...more than half of the teams in the league would kill for him...

And once again he is not a "first month player"...So now we are looking at a two month stint with all his categories on the rise...

Man, I'd hate you guys to manage a team...you would pull the trigger on your best players based on a slow April...
