Greatest Mariners of All-time?...

For a team with a short history, the Seattle Mariners have plenty of players to pick from....Griffey Jr., A-Rod, The Big Unit, and Ichiro to name a few.

And don't forget Edgar Martinez, Jay Buhner and Alvin Davis - all three members of the team's Hall of Fame. Hard to give a vote to a guy who played a decent portion of his career elsewhere, but I've got to go with Junior Griffey here. His best years were all as a Mariner.

I liked Langston. But alas, the team hasn't put him in their Hall of Fame. I wonder why not?

You know only 1 of his 5 Cy Youngs came as a Mariner, right? Not to mention just 5/10 All-Star appearances and 1/3 20-win seasons?

Re: Greatest Mariners of All-time?...

Since three of their best have all played considerable time elsewhere, you have to go by what they did while there. That is easily Griffey. Next is A-Rod and then I think you have to go with Edgar over Randy Johnson.

I am not sold on Edgar (good hitter but no field) over the Big Unit.

Re: Greatest Mariners of All-time?...

For me, this is another easy one. Griffey Jr. He came in as a teenager and gave them 10 spectacular years.
