Felix Hernandez

What a pitching performance last night for Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners! According to the Associated Press, "Hernandez held Boston hitless for seven innings and finished with a one-hitter on Wednesday night to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 3-0 victory over the Red Sox." And the kid just turned 21. Any chance he might be the next great pitcher?

Re: Felix Hernandez

You are lucky, azrael492.

He will succeed now, and in future years.

And yes, Lefty, he will be the next great pitcher. That is, if you do not consider him 'great' already.

Not great yet...look at Mark Prior broke in as high if not highter...and in the minor now... I think great has to have a measure of longevity...

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Longevity and consistancy is the difference between a Prior and a Johan Santana.

Re: Felix Hernandez

Looks like Hernandez is going to miss a couple of starts. According to the AP, "Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez will likely miss two to three starts with a muscle strain inside his right elbow and forearm... Mariners medical director Dr. Ed Khalfayan said Thursday that the 21-year-old right-hander will not throw for five days, then will play catch."

Re: Felix Hernandez

He is among the usual keys to success, next to Grady Sizemore.

Re: Felix Hernandez

Hernandez is going to the DL. According to the AP, "The Seattle Mariners placed ace right-hander Felix Hernandez on the 15-day disabled list on Monday, shelving their hard-throwing 21-year-old until at least May 4... Hernandez threw from 75 feet for eight minutes on Monday as Seattle opened a two-game series in Texas, then was put on the DL, retroactive to April 19." They recalled Cha Seung Baek from Triple-A Tacoma to replace him for now.

Re: Felix Hernandez

Boo hoo. What's the diagnosis? It doesn't seem serious, but yet ceased his progression.
