Mariners Sign Jose Guillen

The Mariners have signed OF Jose Guillen to a one-year, $5.5 million deal with a mutual option for year two. Guillen will start in RF with Ichiro in CF.

A good signing IMO. Guillen, who should be healthy now, can be a real power bat and for only $5.5 million...in this market, that's a steal.

Re: Mariners Sign Jose Guillen

I always liked him when he played for the Reds. I was sorry to see him go. I can't complain toomuch about it though. We did get Harang out of the deal.

True from a talent standpoint. But everywhere he's played, he's been incorrigible....I guess Hargrove is laid back enough where it won't bother him.

Re: Mariners Sign Jose Guillen

I've never really seen Jose Guilllen in person, since he was injured. However, I have read a sufficient amount of information and yearly scouting reports and he is said to be one of the better outfielders in the league. Thus, I have no further opinion rather than those expressed by columnists.

But overall, it seems like a good acquisition by the Mariners.
