Re: Adrian Beltre

Adrian Beltre went 0-for-5 in Seattle's 6-2 loss to Dteroit yesterday, stiking out four times in the process. Beltre's four whiffs were one short of the team record. Now, I'll admit I haven't been paying close attenton to Seattle this season - is this an abberation, or indicitive of his season?

Re: Adrian Beltre

Adrian Beltre was not a smart investment for the Mariners in the off-season when they acquired him from free-agency. I knew that he would be a bust in Seattle, since he didn't have amazing years before 2004. In 2004, he went wild smashing homeruns like there was no tomorrow. But in previous years, he was lucky if he reached a decent 25. You cannot sign players to huge, multi-year contracts after they have only one good year and the others are nothing special at all. Richie Sexson wasn't a bad acquisition, though.

Cool Re: Adrian Beltre

Good point MJH Marc. Just like the Yankees spent big money on Carl Pavano and Jaret Wright after one good year.

Re: Adrian Beltre

Can we throw Randy Johnson into that category, too? I'm not sure since he still has "decent" years even though they aren't what we would expect from this washed-up ace who was once was of the best pitchers on the mound.
