Owen Nolan coming back to Sharks?

Apparently, 34-year-old forward Owen Nolan, a 5-time NHL All-Star who last played in 2004, is going to attempt a comeback. In fact, last Friday his agent apparently told the Toronto Sun that he hoped to have Nolan signed with an NHL team within a week. Most likely candidate is the Sharks, where Nolan served as captain from 1998 through 2003.

Think he's got anything left in the tank?

I was ecstatic when we got him up here a few years back-I loved Nolan, plus big player on the Olympic team too. Then it soured. Lots of injuries, ended up not doing much for us beyond a morale boost - I'm excited to see what he's got. I'd like him to play for someone else beside the Sharks, though.

Knee injury to keep Nolan out for rest of season
Owen Nolan has ruled out returning to NHL this season because of a right knee injury.
Now, whether or not he tries to come back next season? Guess that's another story.

I can't see it - he's got knee problems and back problems. Love to see him do great, but can't see it...

Re: Owen Nolan coming back to Sharks?

So Nolan has emerged but it's not about when he might return - it's in hearings between him and the Leafs about whether they owe him 12 million dollars. Or more.
Owen says his knee injury was never properly taken care of in TO. They were the ones who cleared him for the 2003/-4 season, and we know what happened then.
Since he was cleared, the Leafs didn't owe him any $$$ when he didn't play. As opposed to belfour, who i think we did pay because he was declared injured and freakin decrepid.
Also, Mr. Nolan says he had the right to exercise his player option, which would have been this season and worth 5-6 million $$$ if he had played. If the Leafs didn't want him to play, they should have bought him out for 3.73 Million.
The numbers are staggering. I wonder, is poor Owen short of cash? No no it's the principle of the thing, isn't it?
leafs management asserts he was healthy, and the injury was done during the lockout, so they owe him nothing.

Have the management in Toronto repeat this mantra, "Stay away from the Aging or Injured"....That's a lot of cash to tie up on this two players...that kind of cash gets you about 10 lessor Europeans right?...Maybe Sundin has a relative that can play...

Re: Owen Nolan coming back to Sharks?

I loved Nolan when he was a Shark. We have a new team now with great prospects for the future. I don't want to mess the chemistry the team has right now.

Re: Owen Nolan coming back to Sharks?

Sharks definitely don't need him.
I loved him when he was a shark too - loved him when he played for team Canada and won the gold. He's just done, now. All this talk about returning - it's all smoke, no fire.

Cool Re: Owen Nolan coming back to Sharks?

It seems like Owen Nolan has been playing forever. How old is he already, like 1000?

He came into the League with Jagr, Sundin, Modano, Lindros, Federov and Jersey goalie whose name I drew a blank on...so he is aging, but the others are still playing pretty good hockey (well Lindros keeps getting hurt)...
